Truth based on knowledge
Most people think that what they believe to be truth is the truth. Because people often disagree about what the truth is, they think of the people that they don’t agree with as fools.
So, very, very few put effort into knowing the past and so it repeats and repeats. Speaking from some experience in my 25 years, almost everyone said that they were telling me the truth about things but that’s what they THOUGHT. Almost everything was a lie & it’s even worse now when I see the new generation.
Truth Passes Through Three Stages:
First, It Is Ridiculed. Second, It Is Violently Opposed. Third, It Is Accepted As Self-Evident
Someone suggested that the majority are too lazy to think or question, as it interferes with their lifestyle. Much easier to go with group think of the mob. Logic and questioning is rarely taught outside the sciences. So sad and worse to come before it improves. Our politicians and the bureaucrats are all singing the same songs and are not “For nor of” the people in democratic countries and haven’t been for longer than we realize. The so called Leaders, all lie. Only a few do it for the betterment of the population, or protecting the people.
People hate the truth when it doesn’t fit their preferred narrative or agenda. Few people are heavily invested in their beliefs. Any discussion that about those beliefs will usually involve pointing their finger away from their narrative in order not to have to admit that their narrative is corrupt and in need of correction. This is especially problematic when this person attains a level of influence and power.
People believing in what they want isn’t a problem for society until they have the ability to influence and affect the lives of others. Of course, if they are a leader or a loved one, they can affect the lives of others if their beliefs hinder their ability to make responsible decisions for themselves as well.
We live during a time when people are being told they should be accepted for who they are, live and let live, people cannot change/ be changed, be yourself, and that we should have free speech. Thats a recipe for dysfunction if there ever was one. These are populist philosophies that enable people to become complacent. encourages short term thinking and rewards people for not becoming more sophisticated. This stunts their maturity and as a result they end up becoming set in their ways at earlier stages of their lives.
The truth is never simplistic.
The truth is not simply “given” to us. It
requires the maximum degree of effort.
Truth based on faith rather
than knowledge is absurd.
The universe is one of logic, not illogic.
It is rational, not irrational. It
can be comprehended by logical beings,
who are themselves
products of the core logic of the cosmos.
Real, authentic knowledge
of the universe is possible.
