How do I participate in a SODA private beta testnet?

You need to be on the top of the waitlist. If you are not there, but still want to participate, send us a DM. We’ll find a spot for you!

What blockchain SODA works on?

The first version of SODA will launch tokens on Solana and, therefore our beta version works on the Solana devnet! So it is important that you DO NOT SEND REAL/MAINNET SOL or any other mainnet assets to the Soda embedded wallet.

Why Solana Devnet? Blockchains often have test networks, or testnets, where developers can try out their apps without using real money. Solana’s test network is called a bit different: Devnet. It’s a safe space where developers and users can experiment and make sure everything works before launching on the main network.

Do I need a wallet?

You don’t need a wallet to play or create games. But to trade tokens and buy upgrades in games, you need to have a Solana wallet and some devnet SOLs. SODA offers two wallet options: an embedded wallet and Phantom wallet.

⚠️ Warning: SODA beta testnet works on Solana Devnet. Use only devnet SOL, not the real SOL to trade! DO NOT use mainnet SOL or any other mainnet assets with SODA embedded wallet. If you send mainnet tokens, you will lose them without any chance to recover.

Where do I get some devnet SOL?

Please use devnet faucet https://faucet.solana.com/. Copy and paste your SODA embedded wallet address or Phantom address, choose 5 SOL and click confirm airdrop. Make sure you select Devnet (not Testnet):

Get some devnet SOLs on https://faucet.solana.com/

How do I connect a wallet?

On the main screen, you can click the connect button in the top right corner:

Alternatively, on the toke trading screen, if you haven’t connected a wallet yet, you will see a connect wallet button:

Before trading, you'll have to connect your Solana wallet!

How do I use an embedded wallet?

Embedded wallet is a safe way to generate a new wallet that will be used in SODA. They can only be used to add funds, withdraw tokens and transact inside SODA App builder.

Embedded wallets can take 2-3 minutes to generate and securely store, so please be patient. After you get your wallet address, you can click on the wallet icon “Embedded” in the top-up right corner and press the “Top up” button.

Choose an embedded wallet if you don't want to install or use Phantom

At the top-right corner, the App let's you know that you are on the embedded wallet

Copy the address and send some devnet SOL to it. Again: DO NOT USE THE REAL SOL! Only the devnet SOL you get from the faucet here: https://faucet.solana.com/.

Copy the address and paste it into https://faucet.solana.com/ to get some SOL

After you receive your devnet SOL, wait a bit until the balance gets updated.

That’s it your wallet is ready to trade or make microtransactions on SODA!

How do I use mobile/desktop Phantom wallet?

SODA supports the mobile Phantom wallet app. It can be installed from Google Play or Apple Appstore.

It is highly recommended that you create a new wallet for the Devnet transactions so that you will not mistakenly use your mainnet tokens. For that, press “Create a new wallet“:

It's better to use a fresh new wallet for SODA playtest. Let's create one in Phantom!

Now we need to switch to the Solana devnet. Click on the “Account 1” at the top of the screen and then press settings ⚙️ icon at the top right corner.

Tap on

Choose the “Develop Settings” submenu. Enable “Testnet mode” and make sure that Solana Devnet is selected:

Switch to the Testnet mode from the Developer Settings menu

At the top of the wallet, you should see a yellow bar saying “You are currently in Testnet Mode”:

Great! We are on the testnet!

Congratulations! Now you can copy the wallet address in Phantom (press “Receive” button) and paste it in https://faucet.solana.com/ to get some devnet SOL. Again, do not send your real SOL on the mainnet!

Finally, open SODA app, click “Connect wallet” a choose “Connect Solana Wallet”:

Choose “Phantom wallet”:

Choose

Choose

Confirm the connect request in Phantom:

Accept the connection in Phantom wallet.

And you will be automatically redirected back to the SODA app. If the redirect does not happen automatically, press the “Go back to TMA” button that will show in your browser.

How do I create a new game and a token?

To create a new game press either the “+” button at the bottom-right corner or “Create” button on the banner:

Two ways to create a new game!

How do I discover tokens and games ?

On the main page of the app, you can find the most popular, the newest and the recently played games.

What is an “Initialize token” transaction?

Anyone can create a game without a wallet or gas. This allows us to have the best possible on-boarding for Web2 users.

However, on the first trade or an in-game microtransaction, a token needs to be initialized on-chain. Thus, the first initiator of this transaction will have to pay gas for the initialization. This is the so-called “initialize token” transaction. In the future versions, we will make this operation transparent for our users.
