Neonrabbits Was Initially Called 18 DAO, And You Will Find A Dying (Mentally) Founder Coming Back To Life Again

TLDR: Neonrabbits' lead Christine said "18" in Korean (read why below), and decided to name the project 18 DAO, but it sounded too aggressive, so we decided to be cute and call ourselves Neonrabbits. But in Neonrabbits, you will still meet lots of deranged people who loved the name 18 DAO.

Christine, one of the leads of Neonrabbits, has worked in two different crypto funds and was one of the key decision makers for web3 startup investments since December 2020.

In August 2021, Christine returned from Shanghai to her home country, South Korea. Regardless of her working in web 3.0, it took Christine quite some time to find local Fren who understand web 3.0 in Korea. Additionally, after working with web 2.0 corporations transitioning into web 3.0, remotely or locally in Seoul, she realized the web 3.0 industry needs to cultivate young talents, and explore more innovative and edgy business models that are attractive to the digital generation.

This situation caused Christine frustration, leading her to murmur alone in Korean, "18," which means "Shit/OMG." Consequently, she decided to build an open and inclusive DAO that connects Web3 leaders, builders, and creative minds who are passionate about web3

TLDR: It took Christine over a year to find a co-founder, and during this time, many fren provided Christine generous help with their network and knowledge. They inspired the team to build a product - an NFT collection Neonrabbits gated social DAPP. Christine and her cofounder has been investing their own capital and time to finish building prototype and design.

Although the Korean word "18" was considered okay to say out loud among close friends, it still sounded aggressive, so we decided to call ourselves Neonrabbits.

Christine started her search for a technical cofounder who is as excited as she is about the project idea in September 2022. She finally met her cofounder in Sep 2023. During this over-a-year search period, Christine was mentally dying, but as the prototype and NFT collection slowly came to life, she revived.

And Neonrabbits is finally here, connecting dots to build a community dedicated to web3 mass adoption. We aim to help more and more curious minds enter web3, and help them connect with web3 leaders and builders.

Neonrabbits also hopes that some of our early-community-member-only events will be valuable and productive occasions where like-minded people can connect, build trust, and form lasting friendships.
