The LayerZero Lab team has decided to temporarily suspend their initiative to identify Sybil, users who abuse the system to receive additional tokens during airdrops. Initially, the "hunt for Sybil" was announced to start on May 18, 2024, offering a reward of 10% of the tokens for providing information about violators. Participation required submitting a report containing at least 20 addresses and a clear methodology for identifying Sybil.

Ahead of this campaign, LayerZero Lab offered users the opportunity to voluntarily confess to abuses by May 17, offering 15% of the anticipated airdrop as a reward for honesty. The company estimated that about 100,000 users were involved in such activities. To more accurately identify violators, LayerZero Lab collaborates with analytical companies Chaos Lab and Nansen.

However, the "hunt for Sybil" process is currently suspended to review methods and approaches to identifying violators, as well as to incorporate new data and improve the identification system.
