Hello! I’m Vishak Hariharan, aka ViHa, an independent creative and artist from India. You might know me through my Nouns and Punks derivatives, my topical web3 creatives, or my daily art practice on Farcaster.
In June 2024, I stumbled upon a post that captivated me, leading to a year-long journey of daily neurographic art, initially shared on Farcaster and later on X. This article documents the creative exploration.
ORIGIN
On June 25 2024, a Farcaster post by artist Strano, introduced me to an unfamiliar art form. Intrigued by the simple technique and relieved by not needing an idea to begin with, I grabbed a pen and paper that same day for my first attempt. The result was rough, but the process felt compelling.
The next morning, I spent five minutes on another sketch. Inspired by this small progress, I committed to a daily practice, initially calling it “Strano-inspired art.” Couple of weeks later, Manu Williams, a photographer and artist I follow on Farcaster, shared that this technique was called Neurographic art.
What began as a fleeting experiment evolved into a year-long practice of discovery and self-expression.
NEUROGRAPHIC ART
Neurographic art, developed by Russian psychologist Pavel Piskarev in 2014, is a dynamic blend of creativity and mindfulness. It’s like a thought dump expressed through lines instead of words, capturing the chaos of the mind in graphic form.
The process is elegantly simple:
-
Draw spontaneous lines across a blank page.
-
Round off intersections.
-
Add colour if desired.
No artistic expertise is required—just an open mind and basic tools. I began experimenting with black pens, sketch and brush pens, and bold brush markers, each adding unique depth to my work.
I explored online resources and blog posts, discovering that certified professionals and Piskarev’s book offer deeper insights. But the technique’s accessibility compelled me to dive in immediately. This practice became a daily meditative ritual, transforming spontaneous lines into sometimes harmonious, often abstract forms.
THE FIRST 200 DAYS
The first 200 days were a whirlwind of discovery and early experimentation. Starting with quick, spontaneous lines using a simple black pen, I soon embraced sketch pens to add flair. Almost immediately, I began seeing characters and objects emerge in my drawings, sparking creative curiosity. I explored bold black markers and vibrant colours, filling pages with intricate patterns. What began as a five-minute daily commitment at times grew into immersive two-hour sessions. I even packed my sketchbook and pens for a leisure trip to maintain my streak.
Inspired by everyday surroundings, I recreated a photograph, map, patterns in nature, concept art, comic-style pages, Kintsugi-inspired designs, and even Jack Butcher’s Opepen.
The first few weeks built discipline and a love for the process, while the following months became a creative sandbox, blending the technique with fresh ideas. Each piece was a chance to push the boundaries of what I could create, fuelled by inspiration from the world around me.
I also minted a few pieces on Rodeo.club:
THE CURIOUS CASE OF DAY 108 AND DAY 146
I drew daily without fail, yet misnumbered these entries—Day 108 as 109 and Day 146 as 147. This advanced the timeline a little bit. The mix-up came to light while collating my original sketches and digital versions, verifying their publication dates on Farcaster and X. To keep my entries organized and save time, I left the numbers as they were. It was a relief to confirm I hadn’t broken my streak.
SHOWING THE WAY
As I shared my daily neurographic practice on Farcaster and X, many were intrigued by the outputs, while a few sparked curiosity about what “neurographic” meant. Each time, I seized the chance to explain the simple process and share the post that guided my own journey.
Beyond online interactions, I also took the initiative to organize an informal Mindful doodling workshop one weekend, introducing the technique to my wife and brother.
Here are their creations:
PEBBLES
In January 2025, I began Pebbles by ViHa, a 70-day project to create a collection. Over this period, I produced 95 pieces, inspired by pebbles and fellow artists, each crafted to evoke calm and delight. After careful selection, 69 were launched in April as 1/1 NFTs on Base via Highlight, priced at 0.025 ETH each. Pebbles… marked a natural moment to share my work as a curated collection for others to experience.

POST-PEBBLES
Following the Pebbles… launch, I returned to a simpler routine, dedicating 30 minutes or less daily to neurographic art while consolidating my work and planning to mint and share more pieces.
I’m deeply grateful for those who engaged with my art, shared their insightful and playful observations, purchased my Rodeo pieces and/or Pebbles…, and supported me throughout this journey.
This phase is about building on the past year— organizing my portfolio, experimenting with new media, and exploring fresh opportunities to showcase my art, all while staying connected with my community.

Here is to many more years of neurographic art. Thank you!
