Dear fellow Lads and Lassies, I resonate with this honest rant about drinking.

Below is my thought exercise:

Journey to Canada and Sobriety Challenge

On the 16th of July, I arrived in Toronto, now in Vancouver. On the first of July, Canada Day, Elisabet and I completed our 6-month no alcohol/fully sober challenge that we started together and finished separately. Currently, I'm on my longest adult life streak with this challenge, reaching 6 months, 24 days, and counting*.

Challenges with Social Drinking

Before that, there was still occasional social drinking, which resulted in me feeling somewhat slower the next day—mentally and/or lacking that POWER in the gym.

I guess we can agree that I'm not overly social #trainedextrovert# but it does seem that social groups based around drinking are ingrained in (all) of us from an early age.

Unlocking My Maximum Performance

Luckily, my SDA Python course started on September 22, so that meant most Saturday and Sunday mornings were filled with learning/coding. It provided a good beta test for the 6-month no alcohol/fully sober challenge.

Essentially, I wanted to stop being in this state of permanent recovery and unlock my Maximum Performance - why not, right?💪

The Pursuit of Balance

Cause, I would like to live until at least the age of 100 (still a conservative number), and I believe there's no balance with alcohol - the bartering system doesn't work; you still lose energy.

Even if you barter it down to 1 or 2 drinks, what's the point. I've done sales work throughout most of my life, and I've come to realize that social anxiety is a social construct(debatable). Moreover, everybody is unique and has their quirks, whether they consume alcohol/substances or not (a topic that could be explored further).

#Maybe you've convinced yourself into thinking that your jailor is your savior.#

I'm quite pleased with how things are going, so I'll continue on this path for now. There are countless exciting and enjoyable things to explore and learn. Having a ton of extra energy to devote to these new challenges feels great + I can't help but appreciate the gym/creatine gains I'm experiencing from a sober lifestyle☀️.

Future Endeavors

I'll choose a public medium (testing mirror.xyz #still like it) for more in-depth writing about local culture wars regarding crypto + why an electric motorcycle is the best way to get around Vancouver. Tested different ones while providing marketing services to a local electric motorcycle shop + my thoughts about Web3 and people in general.

Embracing Radical Honesty

#BTW - I’ve been practicing radical honesty for the last couple of years. When I say practice, I mean that I am still learning about it, and I maintain an "always white belt" mentality. Mostly, silence is the key.

On April 22, 2023, at NFT Tallinn, the Biggest Web3 Event in the Nordics & Baltics,

I was in a social setting and had two half-sips from an official NFT Tallinn Brew. I would guess around 10 to 30 ml - mostly to show my camaraderie with the cause.

Öös on elu/ilu ja valu.

Take care, everyone!

#update new personal best - 1 y 2 m and 15 days.Great friends, Medellin, and sake ended that streak - but todo, bien another one is ongoing
