Level 1: Train like a human being
I have been thinking about how to stack my exercise routine for the biohacking protocol. Exercise physiology is difficult enough to require a separate Ph.D. for proper programming. Before jumping into the advanced stuff, I want to have a proper “human” base. It’s not enough to build an athlete, you want an athlete that ages gracefully. Maybe what we should be building first is a human being. But are we not born as humans?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch.
Human zoos were exhibitions where people, usually from African, Asian, or Indigenous cultures, were displayed in a setting similar to a zoo. In Belgium, these displays were notable during the colonial era, especially during the Brussels International Exposition in 1897, where people from the Congo were brought and shown to the public. These exhibitions were part of colonial activities and aimed to show the lifestyles and cultures of people from colonized regions.
Just like these people, one could assert that all modern human beings are trapped in a zoo of sorts. An artificial habitat of city life without any resemblance to our evolutionary past. This means that we no longer move like normal humans, I feel like a proper exercise routine should in the first place compensate for this fact, even before building the athlete stuff. Sometimes, someone writes a book about things better than I ever could explain it. I include said books as “canon” in my work. In this instance, it’s Katy Bowman’s book: Move Your DNA: Restore Your Health Through Natural Movement. As a biomechanic, she thought about these things and created routines ready to be deployed.
For a description of these exercises, look into the exercise glossary of the book.

Another big one is Robert Schleip’s book (an expert on the fascia). He also has a video for this.

This should set you up for a proper base, get ready for part II as we keep building.
