Marmals are a race of creatures that live underwater. They came from mermaids as a result of their connection with people and thus formed a separate half-blood race. They were outcasts of their ancestors and were bullied and persecuted. Therefore, we decided to separate and live independently.
Structure:
They have underdeveloped gills and lungs like humans. Gills do not allow them to fully and permanently exist under water. Instead they periodically float to replenish the lungs with oxygen. Without problems, they can last without ascending for several days, but due to lack of oxygen they are exhausted, sick and as a result may die.
Unlike mermaids, they have two legs instead of a tail. They have webbed toes on their feet that allow them to swim quickly and feel good in the water. They move on land on two legs without any problems, but they are a little clumsy, as they are not used to this type of walking. The skin is partially covered with scales. In men it is expressed more, in women less.
Food:
They eat fish, algae and other gifts of the underwater world. They calmly digest and even love human food. Especially fruits and fried meat.
Lifestyle and reproduction:
They lead a clan way of life. They have a relationship with neighbouring clans. They trade with them or unite in cases of common danger. But they can also feud. More often because of territorial disputes. They practice marriage rituals with neighbouring clans to dilute the blood and improve the gene pool. To do this, several times a year, young sexually mature individuals go to their neighbours for Marnesting. There are feasts and everyone is looking for a couple. In the end, everyone returns to their clan. For them, family ties are not valued. The clan will always come first, as this is the key to their survival.
The clan is governed by the leader, which is determined by force. At any time, he may be challenged, which he cannot reject. The winner becomes the new leader. However, this happens rarely and only for a good reason. The leader is usually respected by the clan and is honoured. Often leaders at their post can even get old and die their own death.
Abilities:
Among the abilities can be distinguished hypnotic singing. It acts slowly and requires a long-term impact on the victim to achieve the proper effect. Distance also plays a role. The ability is similar to sirens, but several times weaker. In addition, with their singing, they influence the victim more psychologically and demoralise it than they submit to their will. They can also block the magical abilities of others. This is especially effective against telepathic and analytical abilities. The radius of coverage is small, but if they resort to a collective ritual, they can significantly expand it and extend the effect to several hundred metres.
